You have three standard horizontal pins in the housing with this type of sight, and your bottom pin, once the sight wheel is unlocked, becomes your mover. Growing in popularity with the western crowd is a three-pin slider. Shots out West tend to be longer, and dial-to-the-yard precision is a must. If you’re a western roamer, and spot-and-stalk is your game, I recommend a moveable sight. For this reason, I recommend a dial-to-the-yard, single-pin or a tried-and-true standard five-pin sight. If you’re a hunter who will spend the majority of your time in treestands or ground blinds waiting on whitetails, shots will typically be inside of 40 yards. I couldn’t be happier with this bow!For the bowhunter, choosing the best compound bow accessories can be confusing. The bow tuned easily and only required swapping the top hats top and bottom to get a perfect bullet hole in a matter of minutes. The speed at my short 27.5” draw with a 500+ grain arrow is also quite impressive and faster than the competition by a good 20 fps. I shot Mathews back in my tournament days and I’ve always been impressed with the quality and attention to detail that goes into their bows. No pin dance, no vibration and just a dead silent shot. I’ve never been brand loyal and I shoot what feels right and shoots good for me. Got my pins on and French tune done and the first shot at 100 yards with it found it mark dead center of the target. The fit and finish were fantastic and after a week or so I was able to get a BridgeLock compatible Black Gold site from S&S Archery (Thanks Rob ur the best). Next was consistency of arrow placement (Robinhood in the first 3 shots at 20 yards). The first thing I noticed was how completely dead in the hand the bow was. First shot with the V3X 29 and I was hooked. After years of shooting Hoyt Carbon bows, I resolved to shot the Mathews after buying an “untuneable” RX4 (my shop and I tried everything to get that bow to tune, nothing worked) contacted Hoyt and received a completely un helpful “deal with it” response from them.
